The Web Hosting is a sub-category of the Comp category that ran from mid-2002, through to December 2003, when it was ultimately closed down by DeVore (although ecksor swears that he was about to do so anyway). It is (or was) moderated by Keeks and The Corinthian.
History
Originally an offshoot of the Webmaster / Flash board, enough queries from users seeking advice on Web hosting, along with demand from the Web hosting companies themselves, merited the creation of a board as a “non-partisan resource for people seeking advice on hosting and related issues (such as domain name registrations)”.
Unfortunately, numerous flame wars were spawned on the board, typically from some of the Web hosting companies themselves. Given a combination of the administrative and potentially legal difficulties that the board represented, it was eventually closed down.
A list of Web hosting links is still sporadically maintained by the board’s moderators.
