The population of boards.ie is made up of Users, Moderators, Super Moderators and Admins. Sometimes they are referred to as members, boardsies, boardsters or boardsfolk. There are other names that the Admins use to describe users, but they cannot be uttered here.
Technically, all people who look at boards are users, but normally, the term "user" refers to a person who has registered. A user who has not registered is more properly known as a lurker. A moderator is a form of user. All moderators were at one point themselves n00bs and normal users, and all normal users have the potential to be a moderator. While moderators tend to speak with a certain authority and sometimes belittlement, outside of the forums they moderate, all moderators are just normal users, equal to everyone else.
In 1999, there were 757 users on the predecessor to these boards, today there are more than 40,000 registered user accounts.
